That is great, Donna! That was a lesson I had to teach myself with my blog. Having received some really nasty comments from readers (who don’t know me) about me triggered some uncomfortable reactions for me. FOr a minute you take it so personally because someone said it, but what always helped was to tell myself that just because someone says something doesn’t make it true. It really helped me a lot to remember that. I think experiences make it easier to realize that.

It’s inspiring to read your story and how you educate your sons. I am will be 22 in less than two months and I am still learning to be an adult. I guess the problem really lies in my tendency to focus a lot on how my family and close friends look at me. Now it is time for me to understand myself better, know my true worth and build my confidence without seeking others’ approval.

Sometimes we respond that way due to the family dynamics we were raised it…I have spent years of my 55 years of life working on myself and the dysfunctional parts of my childhood that we carry into adulthood with us…bottom line I tell sons if someone called you a mailbox would you believe them.theu say well of course not I say them why believe them when they say mean and untrue things..no different
