Hi Laura. I am an ex dentist and I am writing this from India. I know this is too late but I wish to let you know that your blogs did help me a lot when I was stuck in my unhappy career as a dentist. I would then visit your blogs countless times just wondering how you overcame your fear of a career change. I would like you to know that it has been an year since I quit being a dentist and although I am not 100 %happy , I am definitely calmer and happier now in my new job as a medical writer. It was all thanks to your blogs and some other sources of inspiration that helped me decide to leave dentistry. So I am thankful and grateful to you and the platform you created.
I cannot express in words how hurt I am upon reading about your cancer. I will keep you in my prayers and ask the almighty to give you the strength and courage to deal with it. Hope this does not change the wonderful person that you are.

In reply to Lolabees. Thanks for your reply. It is alright to cancel the trip. You can always come to China when you are back in good health. I would love to meet you and be your local tour guide to show you the beautiful places and taste the HK cuisine together. In everyday we are constantly bombarded by small annoying things but thank you for your post which shines light on the bigger, more important things in life. We need to keep looking up and know that we will be ok no matter what. I know you will make it through the treatment and come out stronger and wiser. I will keep praying for you.

Sounds like you have a wonderful person overseeing your return to wellness; I suspect that you feel/felt well, so that’s why it’s a shock when the body informs us that all’s not as great as we thought. I’ve had two ‘scares’ which turned out to be linked to aspartame. (20 and 15 years ago)… Stress was extremely high during those times, and I believe that stress is a huge trigger, perhaps what tips the dominoes….

Zola Bee… I do always smile when I type your name! Thank you so much. That means a lot to hear, and I love your imagery of strangers and the lifeboat… although I don’t feel like we are quite strangers anymore!! Amazing how shared experiences can help us connect.
