I enjoyed working with people Helping them achieve their dental needs. I enjoyed making temporaries.
I remember one time there was a patient that had to have an anterior crown done, so I did her anterior temporary. She was concerned because she was supposed to have to go to a wedding. And she worried about how she would look in the pictures. So I took my time and made the temporary look as authentic as possible and I think she really appreciated it.

Thanks! Hearing from stories on DentalTown and talking with other dentists, it seems associateships rarely go well. I’m thankfully blessed in both places. Been at both for about 4 years now. Don’t have any intention of owning yet. I think the key is doing 2 part-times. More flexibility and leverage. That way you’re not fully invested in one place.

I think what makes a giant difference in quality of life is working with good quality staff that don’t have a “diva” attitude. Dentistry is a difficult enough job as it is especially dealing with some unruly, uncooperative patients. It makes the job a hell of alot easier when staff gets along with one another. I can’t give my best quality work when there is tension/conflict in the office which makes it stressful. It always spills over onto patients and they can really detect when something is amiss.

A toxic work environment can literally kill you. Sadly, many offices seem dysfunctional and I can understand why many people eventually leave the dental industry.

Personality >>>> skills. You can improve skills but a rotten attitude cannot change.
