It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for… it’s list time again! As I reflect on my journey in and out of dentistry, I am compelled to go back to the beginning: DENTAL SCHOOL. Since my last list was all about the hate, I need some balance. So for today, it’s all about the love. 10 Reasons I Loved Dental School 1) Scrubs! Who gets to wear pajamas to work everyday? How great is it to roll out of bed and get into something MORE comfortable? 2) Parties! With all of the stress, we really needed to let off some steam.

One of the most common questions I often heard from patients was, “why did you choose to become a dentist?” It always made me smile because the question usually arose from different intentions. Many were simply curious and fascinated to learn how one falls into this career. They just wanted to get to know a little bit about me. Some were curious and fascinated because they always thought it would be so hard to “be in people’s mouths all day.” They admired my strength. Others, well, they were curious and fascinated because they found it unfathomable that anyone would even consider […]

Just this morning I turned on my ipad hoping to read a few blogs I follow and check a few things on my blog. It was the first time I’ve tried to use the iPad for this. I noticed I couldn’t check my site stats or respond to comments. I couldn’t even log in. I eventually scrolled to the bottom of the page and found the link that says “View Standard Site.” Phew… back to my site as I know it. So about an hour later, I was visiting Kana’s Notebook, and found this post. It is worth a read […]

Day after day I find myself struggling to get this silly post onto my computer screen. I can’t get past it, so I have 2 choices: bag it or keep pushing through it. Right now I am blank. I’m not really a writer, a photographer, or a storyteller. Nope, I’m just someone who blogs occasionally. So maybe I should call it blogger’s block? I could practice silence, something I think we could all use at some point. I mean… silence right after I say a few things. Or I could just bag this post. For some reason, I […]

When I was a kid my sister and I loved building forts. We’d gather as many pillows and blankets as we could find and stack them up against the furniture to make the ultimate hideout. We would enter the fort and create a different world, spending hours on end entertaining ourselves. So when I actually got to wander around a real fort in San Juan, Puerto Rico when I was 10, it stuck with me forever. I don’t remember much about it now, but I do know that to this day I still recall the fascination and excitement it sparked in […]

I’ve also realized along the way that my mood is greatly affected by whether I enjoy my food or not. I noticed this quirk while on a beach trip to Samara, Costa Rica a few […]
