Help me celebrate the 10-Year Anniversary of 10 Reasons Your Dentist Probably Hates You Too! On November 17, 2011, I turned in my last key to the last dental office I ever worked in. It was a momentous day. I had spent 10 years as a dentist and hated dentistry and my life. For years I felt stuck in the wrong career, and I didn’t know how to change. I thought I had no other skills besides being a dentist. Couple that with the fact that no one in the field ever mentioned they hated dentistry as well. Thinking I […]

It was awfully humiliating, but luckily it’s not what you think. In my last post, I described how my intuition helps me out in the form of recurring dreams. This peeing incident was just a different recurring theme making its rounds in my head. From plane crashes to climbing down steep mountainsides, these dreams always have a message to deliver to me. Once I get the message and act on it, the dreams move on. I’m afraid that things are getting even freakier than plane crashes and fear of heights. In this latest series of dreams, I have to pee. […]

I’ve met a lot of both types in my life, and I’d be oversimplifying things if I said each person is entirely one or the other. There certainly were times in my life when I’ve just talked and taken no action to back the bull$#!+ that I was spouting. Heck, I could be doing it right now and don’t even know it! And I’m sure there were other times when my actions were right in line with my values and […]

One of the most common questions I often heard from patients was, “why did you choose to become a dentist?” It always made me smile because the question usually arose from different intentions. Many were simply curious and fascinated to learn how one falls into this career. They just wanted to get to know a little bit about me. Some were curious and fascinated because they always thought it would be so hard to “be in people’s mouths all day.” They admired my strength. Others, well, they were curious and fascinated because they found it unfathomable that anyone would even consider […]

Five days ago I published a blog post that turned out to be, well, quite a surprise. I thought my 50 friends, family, and new blogging friends who followed me would see it, get a little chuckle, maybe comment and click the like button, and I would be on to the next post. Just as I have done for the past year. But I guess I said something that struck a chord. As the hours went by, I saw that the usual 80 hits I get on my publish day were growing… rapidly. When I watched my stats barely go […]
