You never know what surprises New Orleans will have in store for you. We kicked off a perfect weekend there with a blissfully debaucherous meal at Boucherie. It was enough to make anyone’s head spin. From there, the rest of our trip followed suit. There is no better setting for a music festival than the streets of the French Quarter. Saturday the crowds were so heavy that we sought out a smaller stage at The Mint for a little reprieve. New Orleans always finds a way to charm me. Whether it’s with the food…Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad and french fries at Royal Street Deli.…the drinks… …or the colorful characters……it all seems more enchanting because of its extraordinary backdrop. The Spanish, French, and Creole influence on the architecture makes it one of the most captivating cities in the US.There’s still one other ingredient to add to the pot. The music. Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about it. That’s up next.

Now that the bulk of my traveling has come to a close (for now at least,) it’s time to do a little more reflecting. I asked myself a question a few posts back when I was faced with a test. One thing I’ve learned from visiting music festivals over the years is that the experience is about much more than just good music and food. It’s about the culture too, and each festival has its own personality. They all share one thing in common though: the people. Knowing that I would be without a camera in New Orleans, I tried to devise some ways around this little problem. I could certainly use my Blackberry, but it’s not that good, and the battery seems to die on me all the time. I could borrow an iphone at every moment from my bro and sis-in-law.
