Thanks, Rebecca. That’s kind of funny that you entered a travel contest too. Man, I feel your pain and experienced everything you describe. There are actually a lot of us that feel that way. I guess it’s good to know you’re not crazy! I even still like to hear from others that feel the same way, so I can continue to feel a little less weird. Good luck making a change. I really hope you can find something you like to do if that’s not dentistry. Sounds like you know by now though. I’m sure it will all work out in the end.

You could be more or less writing about my life too! Graduated dental school 1996 and still slogging away at the job I hate. My escape is traveling and planning the next trip. I literally run to stand still, competing in ultramarathons across the globe – the more remote the better 🙂 It helps a tiny bit to take the edge off my daily struggle with the work stuff (until I have to come back home). I too have even entered a competition for a travel host and also made a video (mine was on visiting the lovely spa town of Tunbridge Wells, England). Unfortunately i didn’t win so I’m still stuck in the day job. My problem is I’m so down with it all that I can’t get a clear head to even think about what else I could do! Some days its hard to breath let alone think. Anyhow, thought I’d say thanks for sharing, its good to know that there are others struggling with this too. I’m enjoying reading your posts. Cheers

Aww, thanks, Rinku! I can get pretty wrapped up in the travel planning for hours on end.
I slowly transitioned. Since I was able to work only 3 days a week in dentistry, I was able to start to grow the new business by only working in it 1 day per week. I did this for about 6 months, and then I left dentistry altogether. It was a great way to make the change because it was much less scary knowing I wasn’t quitting cold turkey. Can’t wait to see your recipe. Ha– I saw that chicken photo and thought I couldn’t find a better photo to describe the feeling! I always appreciate your comments. 🙂
